As the landing page for this project might change and might not make it perfectly clear what this project is all about I just wanted to take the time to write an overview that is a bit more in-depth (and technical).
There are two parts to the project:
- Having someone use the Oculus Rift and be able to move around in reality. That movement is tracked and then used to move the same way in the virtual world.
- Filming a person (without the need for the Oculus Rift) in a way that it automatically creates a filmed 3D-model of that person (like a holographic recording of that person from every angle)
Another goal is to forgo highly expensive hardware and use readily available solutions (at least those that will become available in the next few years).
As both explanations have become rather long, I decided to break them up and make it a two-part series.
